Following are details of this application

TORUS machines perform quality control on bottles and preforms. To meet industry standards, these machine perform high-accuracy and high-speed measurements.

In the case of TORUS, the imaging solution adopted consists of a telecentric lens (TC CORE series), needed to obtain high-accuracy measurements, and a collimated illuminator (LTCLHP series) that allows the system to have a very high optical efficiency to control high-speed parts.

Thanks to the performance of the Opto Engineering® products and the perfect alignment between lens and illuminator, the TORUS machine is able to measure diameters of bottles up to 200mm by moving on a motorized axis two TCCR2M048-C lenses that image field of view of 47 x 37 mm each while also stitching the images acquired via software.

This system achieves a resolution of 18.5 microns/pixels and a measurement accuracy better than 3.7 microns on 200 mm FOV with a handling precision of up to 50 microns.

When we develop new systems there are always issues to deal with but the one thing we
don’t question are the Opto Engineering® lenses because we know their quality is so high we have no reason to worry about them“
